Clutter outside a flat at Block 174 Boon Lay Drive has been cleared, West Coast Town Council told Stomp.

This comes after a Stomper, who declined to be named, raised hygiene and safety concerns about the clutter on the second-floor corridor.

The Stomper said the clutter started around two weeks ago, adding: "I've been discovering waste items such as cardboard, empty cans and potted plants with water that hasn't been changed for quite long along the corridor.

"I saw that the owner has been piling up non-stop and initially thought that they would stop bringing these waste items back home, but no.

"Blocking the corridor with these items is a safety hazard. It's also quite unhygienic for everyone as they easily attract dengue.

"Additionally, what if emergency situations occur and help is delayed because of the obstructed corridor? As a neighbourhood, we should create a healthy and safe environment for each other.

"I hope relevant action can be taken."

In response to a Stomp query, West Coast Town Council said it is aware of the issue and has advised the resident not to place any cardboard or items at the common area.

A spokesperson added: "The area has since been cleared of any clutter. We will continue to remind residents to keep their items in their homes and monitor the situation in the area."
