Accident waiting to happen?

Stomper Raven is concerned about the safety risks posed by an old staircase at JK Building, located along Jalan Jurong Kechil in the Bukit Timah area.

He shared photos of the damage and a video of him using the staircase on Nov 20, at around 8.25pm.

Not only did the staircase appear uneven and in poor condition, it also had rusty and broken railings.

The flight of stairs was next to a drain that had one of its metal covers removed. A plank can be seen lying on the drain.

Raven told Stomp: "Not only is the staircase uneven, it is also very slippery when wet or when it is raining.

"Part of the railing is dislodged, leaving an empty hollow. Anyone can accidentally step through it and fall into the open drain.

"There are also exposed wooden and metal objects sticking out along the path, and broken tile pieces."

Raven said it was his fourth time in the area and the staircase is still in use, adding: "Someone will fall and get seriously injured one day."
