Cleaner goes to police after giving $2,200 to Filipina maid who claimed to be pregnant, then 'kidnapped'
He believes he is the victim of a love scam.
A Singaporean cleaning supervisor made a police report about his Filipina ex-girlfriend who was working as a maid here and left Sigapore after he gave her a total of $2,200.
Stomper DF said he was in a relationship with MM from July 2024 to January 2025.
"I broke up with her because I found out that she was posting on her social media that she was looking for dates," explained the Stomper in the police report seen by Stomp.
"In the post, she mentioned that she wanted the date to reward her for her time and company."
He said that when they were still together, MM told him that she was pregnant.
"She asked $500 for a gynae, $300 for food and $200 for her upkeep," recounted the Stomper.
"I willingly gave her $1,000 in cash. She also asked me to give her $1,200 monthly as she had lost her source of income as a domestic helper due to her pregnancy."
He made the monthly payment once.
According to BestMaid.com.sg, a maid with MM's name resigned "due to unfair treatment" in 2022, left due to a "personal emergency back at home" in 2023 and could not "get along with Ah Ma" in 2024.
She is married with two children.
The Stomper said in the police report: "She told me that she would be flying back to the Philippines to give birth, but I found out that she went to Dubai.
"I wish to state that I cannot confirm that she was pregnant."
On Jan 11, the Stomper received a WhatsApp message from MM asking for 12,000 dirham (S$4,400).
"She claimed that her agent was the one asking for the money as she was kidnapped by the agent in December 2024," said the Stomper.
"I have lodged a police report with regards to her kidnapping.
"When I asked her what the agency's name was and she was not able to tell me. I remember I did a screenshot of the agent's number previously when I went through her phone.
"I call the number via WhatsApp and asked if it was true that the agency was asking for 12,000 dirham and a woman replied yes. I then asked for her agency's name and company registration number, and the woman replied that she was currently busy and would get back to me later.
"Later that day, I texted the agency number and I was blocked."
The Stomper did not send MM the 12,000 dirham she asked for.
He shared a screenshot of his bank statement showing that on March 26, he had only $1.39 in his account.
The Stomper said: "I want to pursue this matter if she comes back to Singapore."
In response to a Stomp query, the police in Singapore confirmed that a report was lodged.
